BOYS’ BRIGADE CAMP

Church Parade At Glenmark

The annual church parade of the Canterbury battalion camp of the Boys' Brigade was held at the Glenmark Anglican Church last Sunday.

The parade, under the command of Mr W. Collins, camp commandant, was inspected by the retiring vicar of the Glenmark Church, Canon W Wisdom.

Canon Wisdom commended to the boys the organisation they belonged to. He said that when Sir William Smith founded the Boys' Brigade 78 years ago he could not have known just what a force for good amongst bovs he was unleashing upon the world. Canon Wisdom urged the boys to uphold the object of the brigade at all times and to keep before them the ideals that made the Bovs’ Brigade what is was today The battalion then marched past with Canon Wisdom taking the salute.

Canon Wisdom has been associated with the Bovs' Brigade since 1914. when he joined the movement in Dublin. For the last 11 years he has officiated at the annual church parade at the Glenmark Church.

The Rev A. Baxter, chaplain to the battalion camp, preached the sermon at the service and on behalf of the battalion wished Canon Wisdom a happy retirement.
