YEAR’S BEST ACTRESS
Film Critics* Award To Sophia Loren HOLLYWOOD, Jan. 1. The New York Film Critics’ Award for the best actress of 1961 has gone to Sophia Loren for her role in the Italian film, “Two Women.” “West Side Story” was picked as the yeai’s best film. Maximilian Schell, of Switzerland, a brother of the actress Maria Schell, was named the best actor of the year for his portrayal of the German defence counsel in “Judgment at Nuremberg.” Robert Rossen was cited as best director for his production of “The Hustler.” The 30th annual Poll of Exhibitors’ Award for the top money-making film star went to Elizabeth Taylor.
