FIRE BOARD LOAN
Good Response In December
Subscriptions totall i n g £33.780 were received by the Christchurch Fire Board during December towards its £113.000 loan, the board's secretary-treasurer (Mr S. F. Marshall) said last evening.
This meant £63,220 was still outstanding, but there had been increasing public interest in the loan during the month, he said. The £113,000 loan is the fire board’s first venture on to the loan market. The money raised will be used to finance part of the cost of the new central fire station and towards a building programme that includes a new station at Woolston.
