Softball Protest
The Canterbury Women’s Softball Association has forwarded a protest to the New Zealand Softball Association regarding the national body’s ruling on the wearing of shorts by members of the New Zealand teams which will oppose the touring Australians in three international matches this season. Women softball players in the Dominion have for the last 15 years played in trousers. Canterbury considers, that, if the players take the field wearing shorts, they will be liable to injury when sliding into bases. Hard grounds could cause serious abrasions on the legs, and possibly these could also become infected if no protection is given.
