Nelson Retains Hawke Cup

(N.Z. Press Association) NELSON, Dec. 27. Nelson retained the Hawke Cup against the first challengers of the season, Thames Valley. winning by an innings and 159 runs shortly before lunch today. Trailing by 283 on the first innings. Thames Valley collapsed for 124 in its second innings this morning. The Nelson captain D. V Spence took four wickets for 25. It was Nelson's fourteenth successive Hawke Cup win since 1958. Nelson: first innings, 425. Thames Valley: First innings. 142; second innings. 124 (G. M. Tarr 38, J. A Knowles 26; D. V.
