No Christmas Truce In Algeria
fN.Z. Press Association—Copyright) ALGIERS, December 27. Algerian rebel and Secret Army Organisation terrorists using guns, knives and grenades made certain that death took no Christmas holiday in the North African country, torn by seven bitter years of war.
In a daring daylight attack. a dark sedan containing several Europeans roared out of a side street and fired on a group of Moslem workers leaving a paper bag factory. The sedan sped off. leaving
three dead and four wounded, said the Associated Press. A few blocks away, a rebel stepped out of a doorway and shot dead Jean-Claude Saunier, aged 22. who was walking home from work. Two Moslems were critically wounded when several shots were fired into an Algiers cafe from a speeding car that disappeared into a side street. Reuter reported from Tunis last night that the insurgent Algerian press service said that insurgent forces had killed 98 French soldiers and injured dozens more In battles along the electrified frontier between Tunisia and Algeria from December 19 to 25.
Family Escapes

Press Assn.—Copyright) MUNICH (West Germany), December 27 A family of six accomplished the rare feat of escaping over the Czechoslovak frontier into Bavaria early on Christmas Eve, Bavarian police reported today. The family, whose eldest child is 13. came through deep snow to cross the heavily guarded mined and electrically fenced frontier.
