REFUSED START

N.Z. Horse At Caulfield (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE. Dec. 26. The chairman of the Victorian Amateur Turf Club stewards. Mr J. J. Ahem, advised the trainer W. J. McNabb not to run the New Zealand-bred Cashel in the Malvern Handicap at Caulfield today. Mr Ahem said that the brands on the horse did not coincide with those on the registration papers. He said there were certain discrepancies and because of them he had advised McNabb not to start Cashel. Cashel, which came from New Zealand i.me months ago, ran at Kyneton on December 13. Apparently he had passed that day. It is unusual for a horse to be prevented from running in Melbourne after being passed by a country panel of stewards. Cashel was bought for a big figure by Mr E. S. Humphrey. He won four out of five starts in New Zealand, but failed dismally at his only start at Kyneton.
