Judge K. G. Archer, of Wellington, has been appointed Transport Charges Appeal Authority and Transport Licensing Appeal Authority. The Rev. E. J. Melville, who has been a minister in Canterbury Presbyterian Churches for 15 years, will transfer to the Apiti Presbyterian Church. A special meeting of the Christchurch Presbytery sustained the call. Mr Melville served in the Kaikoura Church and the Ashburton South Church before coming to the lona parish in Aranui three years ago. Mr W. K. Payne has been appointed a trustee of the Geraldine racecourse. Mr I. B. Tennent, of Christchurch, was licensed as a probationer at a special meeting of the Christchurch Presbytery in the chapel of St. Andrew’s College. He will be ordained and inducted at the Taranaki East Presbyterian Church, near Stratford. Mr Tennent is a son of the Minister of Education. Mr C. Ward, who has been manager of the Majestic Theatre since 1959, has taken up a position as assistant manager of the Embassy Hotel. The new manager of the Majestic Theatre is Mr D. Hughes, until recently manager of the Odeon Theatre in Napier.
