Secretary-General To Visit City
Pastor W. R. Peach, world secretary-general of the Sev-enth-day Adventist Church, will arrive in Christchurch today to attend the annual camp meeting of New Zealand Seventh Day Adventists at Pascoe Park. Chaneys. The camp will begin today and will last till New Year’s Eve. At least 500 are expected to attend. While in New Zealand Pastor Peach will discuss plans for the Church’s centenary celebrations in 1963 and study the health and welfare programme of the Church and future assistance for under-developed countries. Pastor Peach was born in North Dakota. His first appointment was as a college teacher. In 1927 he left the United States for foreign mission service and served in Switzerland, Belgium, and France. He is an ordained minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and received a master of arts degree from the "Sorbonne, Paris. The programme for the camp includes a devotional service in the morning, Bible studies in the morning and afternoons, daily song services, and evening meetings.
