NEW ROBT. HOLT TAKE-OVER
Merger With Box Company (N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE. Dec. 20. Amalgamation of the Box Company, Ltd., Gisborne, with Robert Holt and Sons, Ltd., has been announced by the directors of the Box Company. Sawmiller, merchant, and building supplier, the Gisborne company is nearing the end of its standing native timber resources and for that reason found the Napier company’s offer attractive, stated the directors. The Napier company had extensive holdings of excellent native bush which would be made available as saw logs to the Box Company sawmill. Mr Harold Holt, chairman of directors of Ribert Holt and Sons, Ltd., said the merger was both logical and necessary. The recent addition of the other Gisborne companies and now the Box Company, Ltd., to the group would enable a pooling of resources and the best use could be made of staff and plant.
