Scheme Starts Next Year <NZ Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 20 An interchange of detectives between Australia and New Zealand will start next year, said the Commissioner of Police. Mr C. L. Spencer, today A Melbourne man will come to New Zealand for about two months and at the same time an Auckland officer, Detective-Sergeant A R Mathieson, will visit Sydney Another New Zealand policeman. Senior-Sergeant G. Kelly, of the Police Training School at Trentham, is at present at the first course to be held at the Officers’ Training School. Manly. New South Wales. Mr Spencer will visit Australia for the Australian and New Zealand Police Commissioners’ conference at Hobart in February He will also visit Sydney and Melbourne to examine the system of divisions in the two cities. Planning for a system of divisional police control at Auckland would start next year, Mr Spencer said It was hoped to have the scheme operating before the end of the year The divisions, each with its own staff and cars, would probably be established at Otahuhu. Avondale and on the North Shore Mr Spencer said he hoped to establish management courses for executive officers and those about to enter senior positions The course was planned to increase in intensity as an officers rank rose. All aspects of administration would be covered.
