BOXERS’ PURSES LIMITED

Effect Of Curbs On Exchange (NX. Brest Association) AUCKLAND, December 19. Unless Reserve Bank restrictions on the transfer of dollars or sterling out of New Zealand are eased, Auckland may have the greatest difficulty in getting “class” boxers from overseas for its next outdoor season, an American manager. Mr Clive Spilsted, said today. He said the amount boxers could take away was so limited at present that by the time expenses and taxation were deducted there was little left for the fighter. The dollar limit is £5OO, which means that the boxer who brings his own manager at his own expense is reduced to fighting for a purse of about £l7O.
