100th BIRTHDAY TODAY

Mrs E. Dickenson, Of Auckland (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 17. Mrs Elizabeth Mcßride Dickenson, of Auckland, will celebrate her one hundredth birthday tomorrow. Born in Campbelltown, Scotland, Mrs Dickenson arrived with her family in the sailing ship Canterbury Belle at Port Chalmers in December, 1881. The family later moved to Auckland, where Mrs Dickenson taught at schools. She later married Mr J. C. Dickenson, who became headmaster of a church school in Ponsonby and an inspector of schools. Mrs Dickenson is a founder member of the Auckland Women’s Club, now the Auckland Lyceum Club. She was the club’s vice-president in the 1920’s and was elected a life member in 1960. For many years she was on the board of directors of the Y.W.C.A.
