BEER PRICES

Dunedin Report Discounted Prices for bottled beer and flagons in Canterbury would not be increased, said Mr A. McGregor, president of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Hotel Association last evening. Mr McGregor was commenting on a Dunedin report that country hotels in Otago were expected to increase their prices for bottled beer and flagons. “We. have not even discussed the matter here m Canterbury,” said Mr McGregor. Mr McGregor said that the Dunedin report had omitted the fact that country hotelkeepers were now allowed to charge an extra 3d for flagons to cover freight charges. The extra charge would therefore only relate to country districts and was the recognition of a fixed overhead cost rather than a move to increase beer prices. Man Drowned At Piha (N.Z.
