CAR OVERTURNS IN SQUARE
Three persons were treated at the Christchurch Hospital alter a pre-war American cal overturned in Cathedral square about 9 p m. yesterday. The car overturned after a collision had occurred between it and a recent model sedan near the northern entrance to the Square. The driver of the overturned car, Mr J. Ekensteen of 486 Avonside drive, suf-
terea head injuries. Miss Lynette Eagle, of 244 Centaurus road. and Miss Maureen Martin, of 65 Retreat road, both of whom were passengers, suffered shock. All were treated at the Christchurch Hospital and sent home. The driver of the other car was not injured. Both cars were severely damaged. One wing of the later model vehicle was almost ripped off, the grille
was oadiy damaged and the radiator holed. Both sides of the overturned vehicle suffered considerable damage, and a large amount of glass was scattered over the road The overturned car came to rest on a pedestrian crossing. fortunately striking nobody. A large crowd quickly gathered and some assisted a bus driver to clear the glass off the road. An ambulance, called by a bystander, was quickly on the scene.
