Minister’s View Criticised (N Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 12. A suggestion from the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Marshall) that local bodies accept tenders involving overseas expenditure only from tenderers holding import licences—irrespective of their tender price—was described as "shocking” by Dr. A. J Hugill at an Ondhunga Borough Council meeting last evening. Dr Hugill said that if the lowest tenderer had not got a licence the Minister of Customs should give him one. “even if it is necessary to take it from somebody who has a licence.” The council decided to write to the Minister inquiring into the possibility of local bodies applying for licences for their own work
