An Irish Rebel?

Sir, —At some comparatively recent period in Irish history, one, Dan O'Donnell, is reputed to have attempted to raise an Irish revolt against England; been betrayed by a man named Carey, escaped and followed Carey, caught up with him in Durban where he shot Carey, then surrendered, and was cuted in England. Can anyone tell me the dates or approximate dates of these happenings? Was O'Donnell shot or hanged or beheaded? —Yours, etc., A. CHESS. December 11, 1961.
