Return Ordered By Department i (N.Z. Press Association) , AUCKLAND. December 12. : Fifteen tons of New Zea-j land frozen beef originally! consigned to American buyers is being returned unopened from San Francisco for retesting by the Depart-: ment of Agriculture. Officials believe it may be, contaminated by insecticide The meat, 560 cartons: addressed to W. and R. Fletcher, Ltd., will arrive in Auckland on Friday in the Devon. Mr A. G. Brash, livestock superintendent for the department in Auckland, said today that "vidence of contamination by insecticide has been found in the meat of cattle killed at the same time as that which was exported. "There is no evidence that? this consignment is contam-! inated,” said Mr Brash. "It is merely under suspicion.’’l The meat had not beenl seen by the American buy-j ers. Instructions were given for its return before it: reached America. Each carton would be) tested on arrival, said Mr! Brash. This was expected to take some time.
