"I am quite certain that a more systematic study of the causes of pupils’ errors would be of very, great value in our approach to teaching,” said Dr. P. J. Lawrence, senior lecturer in education at the University of Canterbury, in an address at the Mairehau High School prize-giving ceremony last evening. “Do not be too intolerant of pupils’ errors,” he reminded teachers. ‘‘There is usually good cause for them.” He said many mistafces were caused by failure tn attend to all features of a problem and to organise the method of solving accordingly.
