CANTERBURY SQUAD
21 Players Named Seven players who have yet to play first-claaa cricket are included in the 31 named on Saturday as Canterbury’s representative traininc squad by the selectors (Messrs F. Dennis, W. A. Hadlee and A. R. Mac Gibbon). Hie players chosen are B. A. Bolton (Old Boys), G. G. CouE (North Canterbury), N. F. Curtis (Gid Collegians), J. H. M. Dawson (Old Collegians), A. G. Duckmanton (Lancaster Park), W. M. Duncan (Old Boys), J. E. England (Old Collegians), D. L. Gallop (Sydenham), B. G. Hadlee (Old Boys), L R. Hartland (Sydenham), D. HUI (Old Boys), B. F. Hastings (West Christchurch-Univer-sity), E. R. Hignett (Riccarton), J. W. Kiddey (Riccarton), A. R. Mac Gibbon (Old Collegians). D. J. McKendry Park), C. R. Nicholson (Sydenham), M. B. Poore (St. Albans), A. R. Taylor (St. Albans). K. Thomson (Sydenham), and P. Truscott (Sydenham). Coull, a former Canterbury all-rounder, played for the combined minor associations’ team against the M.C.C. last season. Curtis is a young left-arm fast “bowler, who has played only two senior games. Duncan has represented Northern Districts in Plunket Shield matches. Hadlee, who has been in outstanding form, is :in the squad for the first time. Hastings, having his first season in Christchurch, has [appeared for Wellington and I Central Districts, and was a New Zealand colts captain. Hignett is a young off-break , bowler, and Taylor has been enjoying much success with 1 his medium-pace right-arm bowling. Truscott is a former Southland representative and Otago Brabin tournament player.
