I AND Z TRIALS

Barter And Norris Leading On Points Idlealongs and Takapunas which took part in provincial trials at the week-end looked anything but the dying classes which they have been labelled in recent seasons. They made a fleet of 14 boats, some of them having been only recently built, notably Takapunas with ply hulls and Marconi rigs. Every craft was a Canterbury Yacht and Motor-Boat Club-registered yacht. With two wins and a fourth, C. J. Barter was a clear leader on points when the third Idleaiong trial finished late yesterday afternoon. N. N. Norris won two races and scored a second in the Takapuna trials, after representing Lyttelton in the Cornwell Cup contest last season; but he had close competition from W.
