ORDAINED IN NELSON

Two Anglican Priests (From Our Own Reporter) NELSON. Nov. 30. Two former Christchurch students, the Rev. D. W Pickering and the Rev. F. R. Greig, were ordained as priests of the Church of England in Nelson Cathedral today. The ceremony was performed by the Bishop of Nelson, the Rt. Rev. F. O. Hulme-Moir, and the sermon was preached by the Venerable Archdeacon J. R. Young, retired, of Riwaka. Mr Pickering graduated in engineering at the University of Canterbury, and after that he studied for two years at Ridley Theological College, Melbourne. Including a year’s curacy, his total period of training was seven years. Mr Greig, who is a registered plumber, spent four years at Christchurch College studying theology. Both priests will remain in the Nelson diocese for some time, Mr Pickering at Nelson Cathedral, and Mr Greig m Blenheim.
