Massive Rise Predicted (N Z .PA .-Reuter—Copyright > LONDON, November 29. The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr Lloyd) said at Eastbourne tonight that if Britain joined the European Common Market she could look forward to a “massive” increase in her exports. He told more than 600 industrialists at toe opening of the international convention of the Export Council that this increase would depend, however, on Britain being “competitive.” The Chancellor described Europe as “an area of great resources, dynamic economic growth and a continuing high level of demand. “As the barriers to trade come down we may expect a great impetus to the exchange of goods—more of each country’s needs to be met from imports and more of each country’s production to be sold abroad.” he Mid.
