Fires Banned In Hawke's Bay
(NZ Preu Association) NAPIER, November 29. A closed fire season was declared throughout Hawke’s Bay county today as the fire hazard reached its most critical level for many years. The ban was issued by the county fire officer (Mr A. S. Walters) after a conference with other fire officers, who agreed that the fire threat was the worst they could remember. Similar restrictions have been imposed at Ashhurst, near Palmerston North.
