THREE PERSONS INJURED
Head-On Collision Near Cheviot Three persons were injured when two cars collided headon on the Telegraph gully one-way bridge, 14 miles south of Cheviot, on the main Picton-Bluff highway, shortly before noon yesterday. Mrs Grace Wade-French, of Steeles lane, Rotorua, suffered head injuries and shock, and was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. Her son, Dudley WadeFrench, a police constable, of Rotorua, who was driving the car going north, suffered a severe gash in the head. Mrs Elsie Isobel Brehaut, of 4 Wilson street, Timaru. suffered cuts on the left leg. Her son, Murray Everard Brehaut, of the same address, who was driving the car going south, was uninjured. The injured were treated by Dr. B. F. Heyward, of Cheviot, who took Mrs WadeFrench and her son to Amberley, where they were met by an ambulance from Christchurch. The Cheviot ambulance was away at the time. Mrs Brehaut was taken to hospital later by her son. The accident occurred during heavy rain. The fronts of both cars were severely damaged.
