MAN’S DEATH AFTER FALL

Arm Severely Hurt By Slasher (From Our Own Reporter) NELSON, November 27. A 37-year-old Nelson butcher died in the Nelson Public Hospital on Sunday morning after being admitted with a severely gashed arm suffered in a fall on Saturday at Stephen's Bay. He was Leonard Arron Prater, married, with two children. The accident occurred at about 2.30 p.m. on the property of Mr N. Avery, at Stephens Bay, 15 miles from Nelson, when Mr Fritter apparently fell, striking his head on a rock and his arm on a slasher. Mr Avery strapped the arm to prevent further lon of blood, after which a neighbour drove them to Motueka for medical treatment. The injured man was then taken by taxi to Nelson, where he died at 1.40 am on Sunday after undergoing an operation.
