BURGOS SALE

Explanation By Solicitor

“The trustees of the estate of the late Mr Percy Curtis wish to avoid any possibility of your readers misunderstanding the situation from the report last Friday that Burgos was to be auctioned at the National Bloodstock Sales, Trentham, in January and that the trainer, Mr. Gordon Barr, was not aware of the matter,” says the solicitor to the trustees in a , letter to “The Press.” ‘•The last day for catalogue entries was last Friday week and the trustees were regretfully obliged to enter the horse to avoid waiting another year to wind up the estate. The difficulties, if not the impossibility, of the estate continuing racing for any lengthy period were discussed with Mr Barr some time ago and it was in accordance with this policy and out of no intended discourtesy or indication of dissatisfaction that the entry was made. “Mr Barr, since Mr Curtis’s death, assumed the entire responsibility for Burgos’s racing programme and the trustees have throughout had the fullest possible confidence in Mr Barr as trainer. This confidence has been justified to the utmost by Burgos’s recent successes, which reflect great credit on Mr Barr. Mr Barr has not asked the trustees to make any statement but they feel he is entitled to have the position placed fully before your readers.”
