Earlier, a heavy crop had ■ been predicted, but the bliz- ' zard conditions of the last r week and a frost afterwards 1 have taken much of the crop 1 in many areas, a spokesman ■ for the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation said. Last year's fruit crop from Central Otago—which supplies Otago and Southland and also air freights fruit to the North Islapd—was a record one, but with the unexpected weather change s much of this year's crop has been spoiled. > Pip fruit has been affected. I and Moorpark apricots, the , principal canning variety, s badly hit. r Late peaches, nectarines. > and apples were also spoilt.
