MISSIONARIES IN CONGO
NJZ. Couple Refuse Retirement The Rev. H. B. Williams and Mrs Williams are going back to the Congo in spite of conditions there, and in spite of the fact that their many years of service there have earned them the right to retirement. They will not now be associated with the leprosy colony at Oicha, which was largely built by Mr Williams, but will be located near Oicha in the comparatively stable area in the north. This is reported by the Rev. Murray Feist, the New Zealand secretary of the Mission to Lepers, which helps to support the leprosy work of the Africa inland mission at Oicha.
Mr Williams said they were going back because the people of the Congo urgently needed the, help and leadership of the Christian missionary, and that help could best be given them by “an old Congo hand.” In the same ship with Mr and Mrs Williams will go two bales of clothing—an experimental consignment from the Mission to Lepers to test the present condition ot transport services.
