Council Staff Enlarged
The increasing pressure of both case work and administration had meant a bigger staff, the director of the social service council of the Diocese of Christchurch (Mr G. M. Morgan) told the annual meeting. To ease this pressure. Mr F. Hyde, of Christchurch, had been appointed assistant to the director. Mr Hyde, who was at present with the Broadcasting Service, would join the administrative staff early next year. Mr Morgan said the council hoped to be able to send a student to the School of Social Service. Victoria University. for training. After being elected chairman of the council the Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. M. Sullivan) said it was time new blood was introduced into both the chair and the committee. "I have been chairman since the council started, nine years ago. We have grown and we must become aware of this and face up to our increased responsibilities." he said. Officers elected were: warden. the Bishop of phristchurch (the Rt. Rev. A. K. Warren); chairman, the Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. M. Sullivan); committee, the Rev. L. N. Morris, Mesdames E. J. Cordner, H. J. Armstrong, Miss N. G. Williams, Messrs S. C. Andrews, J. W. Huggins, J. E. Millar. J. B. Pearson, the Rev. W. D. Harding. Mr C. W. Hamann. Dr. E. S. Thodey, Mr M C Gresson, the Rev. J. D. Froud, Hrs J. Williams, Miss A. M. Ness, Dr. T. S. Weston. Mr P. B. Austin; director, Mr G. M. Morgan; secretary-treasurer, Mr H. L. Wilson.
