COMMERCIAL Easier Trend In N.Z. Share Trading

There was an easier trend in stock exchange trading yesterday, with both New Zealand and overseas shares weaker. Eleven New Zealand shares changed hands at higher prices, but 15 lost ground, trading in overseas shares showed five rises to nine falls. Coulls Somerville Wilkie rose 2s to 39s and Sharlands sold lid up at o/s bd ex dividend.

Other New Zealand shares to improve were Dominion Breweries, N.Z. Insurance. Alex Harvey, Charles Begg, Frozen Products, Giant, O Brien rights, N.Z. Forest Products and N.Z/Newspapers. N.Z. Breweries, National Insurance, South British, Wright Stephenson, Lane Walker Rudkin, Hay’s, N.Z. Farmers’ Fertiliser and N.Z. Paper Mills were among the New Zealand shares that lost ground. Among Australian shares C.8.A., Ansett, 8.H.P., Email, Reid Murray and W. R. Carpenter were easier.
