TROTTING LORDSHIP DRAWS BAD POSITION

Champion Still Picked For Derby Today The champion colt, Lordship, has drawn No. 14 and will start from the second line in the New* Zealand Derby Stakes on the third day of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s New Zealand Cup meeting at Addington today. Even so, Lordship is expected to start a firm favourite; but it is unlikely he will be at such restricted odds as if he had started from the front. Lordship’s brilliant run for fourth in the Challenge Stakes on the second day of the meeting deserved a better fate and it is difficult to see him beaten today.

Belroy started in the Riccarton Stakes on the first day of the meeting and paced a fair race for ninth. He has drawn favourably at No. 3 on the front line and should make Lordship work hard for victory. Rembrandt is unbeaten at two starts at the meeting and gives the impression that he will run out the Derby distance solidly. Adioson. Ai.blins, For Certain, Ruling Caste, Trade Fair and Southern Smoke are other smart youngsters capable of adding interest to the finish.

The meeting between Ordeal, Au Fait and other highclass trotters in the New Zealand Trotting Free-for-AH will be another of the highlights daring the day. Ordeal may have the edge on au Fait for brilliance, but the latter is usually so reliable that she is certain to take beating. Mighty Hanover. When. Dianthus Girl, Kennoway and Indianna are others expected to race prominently. The double w’ill be run on the Allan Matson and Le Lievre Handicaps. Lookaway, Patchwork and Scottish

Command form a likely trio for the first leg, and Scottish Light, King Hal and Zenith should do best in the second. Fair weather is forecast for today. The track will again be in splendid order.
