No Comment Picked For Otaki Cup
No Comment, which beat everything but Namu Lady in the Masterton Cup last week, and Mossman, an easy last-start winner at the same meeting, might be the hardest to beat in an even-looking field for the Otaki Cup, the main event and first leg of the double at the Otaki Trotting Club’s night meeting at Hutt Park tomorrow’.
No Comment and Mossman, both trained in Canterbury, are only two of an abundance of form runners in the field, which includes last-start winners. No Comment has yet to win this season, but he has been placed four times, and his second last week was a good one as he covered extra ground. Mossman has won three of his last five starts, at Westport. Oamaru and Hutt Park. At Hutt Park last Saturday he outstayed Silent Hall over two miles after losing ground at the start and being well back to the five furlongs. Form runners besides these two include Golden Ego, a winner over two miles at Awapuni at his only run this season. Sand Drift, a winner at Kaikoura. Vanese and First Song. Vanese was a close third behind Namu
Lady and No Comment in the Mas’terton Cup last Saturday, nte Otaki Cup will be run over two miles for £525.
