BOON HAY FIRE COVER
Board Wants Fire Station Nearby .A eugiestlon by the Fire Service Council that a water reservoir site would adeSuately provide fire cover for loon Kay aa well aa for the southern areas of the city proper, was not well received by the Christchurch Metro* politan Fire Board at its meeting on Tuesday evening. The board decided to nform the council again that it considered a tub-station in or near the area was essential The site of the station to replace the present Sydenham Are station would have a big bearing on this question.
The board also decided to inform the council again that it was strongly opposed to including Lincoln. Tai Tanu and Springs-Ellesmere in its area. The board supported the formation of a volunteer Are brigade at Lincoln and was •till willing to guide and advise any move made By residents in this direction, but was against having any financial tie With the proposed brigade. “I do hot think we can agree to spending the money of ratepayers in the metropolitan area on Bre services in the Lincoln area. We cannot extend our boundaries indefinitely,” said the chairman (Mr w. R. Campbell). The Fire Service Council asked the board to make submissions regarding future sub-etaitons in an over-ail plan for future development.
