MOLESWORTH PROFIT
Sales Of Cattle Yield £64,900
(N.Z. Press Association) BLENHEIM, Nov. 14. Operations by the Department of Lands and Survey on the 450,000-acre Molesworth station in Marlborough showed a profit of nearly £25,000 during the 1960-61 farming year, according to the Director-General of Lands, Mr D. N. R. Webb. The profit follows the trend of the two previous years when net profits (after changing interest on capital) have been £9308 and £20,442. The results iUustrate the extent to which land, badly depleted and over-run with deer and rabbits 25 years ago. has recovered under a policy of careful management and grazing with cattle. Sales of cattle yielded £64,900 from 1988 head, including 1008 at Addington for £40,000 at prices ranging from' £3B to £46 a head.
Wages took £9138, farm stores (including fuel and petrol) £1498, repairs and maintenance £2396 and £225 was spent on hay baling for winter feed.
