FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A ridge . of high pressure over northern New Zealand is weakening as a cold front advances on to the South Island from the south Tasman Sea. Forecast: I Canterbury and Kaikoura coast.—Fresh southI west winds, soon becoming general, with rain and I colder temperatures. Outlook: occasional showers, ' especially about the coast. Marlborough, except the Kaikoura coast. —North- | westerlies decreasing and turning to the southerly quarter, fresh in exposed places about midday, with some rain developing; temperatures becoming colder. Outlook: occasional showers, especially about the coast. Nelson.—Moderate variable winds; cloudy with occasional showers; temperatures cooler. Outlook: mainly fine.
