SUDD EL NIL AND BECAME DOUBTFUL

"The Press” Special Service

DUNEDIN, Nov. 14. Sudd El Nil and Begame are unlikely starters at the Southland Racing Club's meeting at Invercargill on Saturday. Sudd El Nil ran two good races at the New Zealand Cup meeting. On Saturday he finished second to Interlaken in the Middleton Highweight. He is to be given a light let-up before he resumes racing.

Begame is to miss his engagement in the Takitimu Hack Handicap because of a wide barrier draw. Since he won his way out of maiden class ait the Eastern Southland Hunt meeting in September he has consistently drawn outside stalls.

One of the best trials on the course proper, which was 45 feet out from the rails at Wingatui this morning, was recorded by Bold Venture (A. I. Powell) which ran the distance in 52sec. He kept up a strong gallop to rim the last three furlongs in 39 3-5 sec. The winner of his last two races. Bold Venture is due to have his first start since April and to have his first race in open company in the Taramoa Handicap, the second leg of the Southland Racing Club’s double on Saturday. Panel (R. J. Skelton) and Attribute <R. N. Marsh) were together over five furlongs, the last half in 53 2-ssec. Panel is due to make a fresh start in the Taramoa Handicap.

A half-sister by Beaumaris to Great Sensation, Attribute has been disappointing in her four starts this season. She is engaged in the City Handicap, the feature race at Invercargill on Saturday.

Royal News (J. D. Pankhunst) and Rhu (R. A. Low) ran five furlongs in Imin Bsec, the last three furlongs in 41sec. An unlucky fourth at his last start, Royal News lias, drawn a wide barrier stall in the Second Roslyn Trial.

Golden Blossom (R. J. Skelton) galloped five furlongs on the plough in Imin 5 l-ssec, the last three furlongs in 40sec. She has drawn wide in the Second Roslyn Trial.
