Anti-Castro Cubans (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) CARACAS (Venezuela), November 13. Mexico had agreed to assume . the protection of 47 anti-Castro Cubans in the Venezuelan Embassy in Havana, United Press International reported. President Romulo Betancourt announced in a nationwide radio and television speech on Saturday night that Venezuela had broken off all relations with Cuba because of “continued insults and interference.”
Jt was learned that the Venezuelan Charge d'Affaires (Mr Francisco Quijada) informed the Cuban refugees that Mexico would take over their protection. The 47 Cubans include the former President, Mr Manuel Urruita, the former Labour Minister, Mr Manolo Fernandez, and Dr. Fidel Castro’s former private secretary, Mr Juan Orta. The United States and eight Latin American countries had previously severed relations with Dr. Castro’s regime. They are Honduras, the Dominican Republic. El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Nicaragua, Paraguay, and Pent.
