Medal Found In Bus Shelter Demolition

A medal presented by the residents of Gienroy to Mr G. A. Green in 1919 after he returned from war service was found during the demolition of the bus shelter on the south side of Cathedral square to make room for the extension of the Bank of New Zeeland.

The medal, found by Mr L. J. Scuffeli, was lying beside the poet inset into the well. Of 9 carat gold, it is in the shape of a Maltese cross, and is badly discoloured.

Five pennies were found in ■the same place. One is dated 1904, a second 1907, and a third 1917. The other two are newer.
