Swimming PLANS FOR CARNIVAL

Melbourne Polo Team

Members of the Melbourne Swimming Club's water polo teem will participate in an invitation carnival in Christchurch on December 27. if the plans of the water polo board come to fruition. Formal approval for the board to make arrangements for the carnival was granted by the management committoe of the Canterbury Swimming Centre last evening. The team will arrive In Christchurch from Melbourne on December 26 to start a New Zealand visit Many of the team’s members are accomplished freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly swimmers os weß as being water polo players of a high standard.

The centre last night received a deputation from the board consisting of the board’s chairman (Mr D. Stewart) and secretary (Mr R. Erickson). Mr Stewart said the board was anxious that a carnival should be held at which the visitors could compete, but he was remanton) that many swimmers and officials would be absent from the city on holiday and Motion of the carnival.
