Marching AMBERLEY CONTESTS
Strong Junior Section The second marching contests of the ' season were held yesterday when the Amberley-Waipara association conducted a meeting at the Amberley Domain. The teams marched in open and novice sections into which they were graded after the last contests a fortnight ago. Thirty-six teams took part in the senior, junior and midget sections. The junior section is very strong this season with 17 teams taking part. The marching was well received by a large crowd. The ground was very dry and at times appeared a little slippery. Some of the competitors had difficulty keeping their feet. Results were: — Senior Open. Champion team: Philips HI-Z: runner-up. Downings Red Robins. Display: Philips HI-Z. Champion leader: Downings Red Robins. Novice.—Champion team: Gay Gordons; runner-up Caledonian. Display: Gay Gordons. Champion leader: Caledonian. Costume over-all: Philips HI-Z. Junior Open.—Champion team: Royal Kilties; runner-up. Motorways. Display: Royal Kilties. Champion leader: Royal Kilties. Novice. Champion team: Marathon: runner-up. Modernage.' Display: Mairehau. Champion leader: Modernage. Costume over-all. Motorways. Midgets Open. Champion team: Gordonettes; runner-up Blue Star Taxis. Display: Gordonettes. Champion leader: Gordonettes. Novice. Champion team: Perfection: runner-up. Cairns. Display: Perfection. Champion leader: Perfection. Costume over-all: Blue Star Taxis.
