DISPLAY BY LIFE BOYS
Many Activities Demonstrated Examples of the instruction given Life Boys formed a major part of the annual display given by the 6th Christchurch team in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church hall on Saturday evening. The activities demonstrated the Life Boy programme of spiritual, social, educational and physical instruction. The evening began with a short service conducted by Mr I. E. Clark, past captain of the Boys’ Brigade. The audience of parents and prospective Life Boys watched sketches, figure marching, games, relays, individual items. Life Boy songs, and handicrafts. The display ended with the entire team dressed in Maori skirts, rowing an imaginary canoe and singing “Now Is The Hour.” The official guest, the Canterbury area assistant supervisor, Mr M. H. Lumsden, told the boys not to be downhearted if they were not good at everything. The talents of every boy were different and the four-sided programme of the Life Boys gave opportunities for every boy to be a success.
