PULP MILL AT KAIAPOI
“No Effect On Nelson” (N2 Press Association) NELSON, Nov. 11. Plans announced by Sir David Henry yesterday for a £1 million mill to be established at Kaiapoi by New Zealand Forest Products, Ltd., would not affect a pulp indusry in Nelson “in the least,” Mr L. H. Baigent, of Messrs H. Baigent and Sons, Ltd., said today. A team of experts is due in Nelson shortly to assess the forest potential of the area. Mr Baigent said he had telephoned Sir David Henry at Auckland late yesterday. “He said that the Kaiapoi mill would not affect the Nelson proposition 'in the least’ and further said that the experts who would investigate Nelson’s forestry potential were assembling in Auckland and would be in Nelson shortly,” Mr Baigent said. Sir David Henry hoped to accompany them to Nelson, together with some of his engineers, Mr Baigent said.
