FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT
Situation.—An anti-cyclone is centred to the north of the North Island and a disturbed westerly airstream covers most of the country. A cold front, lying across the south of the South Island is moving slowly northwards. Forecast.—
Nelson.—Moderate to fresh westerly to northerly winds; scattered showers in the ranges; more general rain developing; temperatures moderate. Outlook: mainly fine. Marlborough and Canterbury.—Fresh to strong north-west winds north of Banks Peninsula, gradually decreasing; otherwise moderate westerly winds; a brief period of rain is likely during the morning or early afternoon in North Canterbury and Marlborough, otherwise partly cloudy, apart from some scattered showers in the western ranges; temperatures moderate. Outlook: mainly fine. Buller and Westland.—Moderate to fresh winds from a westerly quarter; occasional rain at first, but becoming changeable with showers and fair intervals; temperatures cool to moderate. Outlook: showers.
