£13,325 GIVEN SOCIETY

Help For Crippled Children (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Oct. 29. A Waihi farmer. Mr O. Bjerring, has given £13.325 to the Auckland branch of the Crippled Children Society. Mr Bjerring has had little direct connexion with the society but considers it a worthy cause. The money will be devoted to the general Auckland and South Auckland funds. “We are very thrilled with this generous gift,” said the director of the Auckland branch of the society (Mr A. G. Cook). “It is not every day that we have this happy experience." Mr Bjerring. who has been fanning for the last 47 years, mostly in the Waihi district, came to New Zealand from Denmark 50 years ago. Chimney Fire.—A chimney fire at the house of Mrs Margaret O'Neill, at 180 Springfield road, was attended by a unit from the St. Albans station at 12.24 p.m. yesterday.
