PRISONERS FOUND

Third Man Also Arrested (N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI, Oct. 29. The two prisoners from the Waikeria Prison Centre who escaped last Sunday have been recaptured. A third man who was with the escapers was also arrested. All three men will appear in the Whangarei Magistrate’s Court tomorrow. Michael Thomas Prior, aged 20, and Matekino George Hansen, aged 24, will be charged with escaping from Waikeria. Other charges will also be made. Prior and the third man were arrested at 11.50 p.m. yesterday near Waipu. They were in a car which was chased by the police to near the Waipu Hotel. Here they abandoned the car and took to the scrub but were found with the aid of a police dog.

Hansen was arrested in Batley, south of Maungaturoto, at 9.30 this morning, as a result of information received by the police.
