FREAK RADIO CONNEXION

Nelson, Whangarei Taxi Firms (From Out Own Reporter) NELSON, Oct. 22. Freak weather conditions are believed to have caused an unusual connexion on two-way radio telephones between a Nelson taxi firm and a taxi firm in Whangarei, both companies using sets with a normal radius of only 40 miles. From 8 p.m. yesterday until 9 ajn. today. Nelson City Taxis were in clear and direct communication with Kiwi Taxis, of Whangarei. Neither firm was able to explain how it could have happened. Kiwi Taxis reported that the weather in Whangarei was wet and foggy. Because of the Port hills, Nelson radio telephone communications were poor, a spokesman for City Taxis said.
