1100 See “Ham” Gardens

Eleven hundred persons saw the “Ram” rhododendron and azalea gardens when they were opened to the public on Saturday afternoon. The gardens were colourful with early varieties of both shrubs, said the secretary of the Canterbury Horticultural Society (Mr J. C Fraser). The society organised the visit, and money collected will go into its building funds The gardens are owned by the University of Canterbury Mr Fraser said the visit planned for November 5 should be more interesting The more colourful late varieties should be in bloom then.
