Science Buildings At Ham
Government approval for the erection of science buildings at Ham means that another important stage has been reached in the transfer of Canterbury University to its new campus. Plans for these buildings were agreed upon about 18 months ago; but the delay might have been much longer if the Canterbury University Council had not pressed its case assiduously. Only last month tiie council decided to make fresh representations to the Government.
■ There is still no» guarantee > that, if the buildings are 5 not finished in time, the university can accommodate all entrants in 1965. It 1 must be remembered, also, i that progress with this f project brings closer the e time when other decisions a will have to be made—t decisions on other facilities a at Ham, and on the equally - important question of the 1 future of the Worcester ? street site. It is not too t early for the university, 1 the Government, and local - interests to be giving the . latter very serious thought.
