Mr Lake In Washington (N.Z.P.A.-Re«t»r— Copvrwht) WASHINGTON, October 5 • The New Zealand .Finance Minister (Mr Lake) conferred in Washington yesterday with officials of the World Banx and International Monet ary Fund. He met the executives of the two institutions, whicn New Zealand joined at the end of August. Mr Lake also went to the State Department for talks with United States diplomats Mr Lake said his talks with State Department officials covered the possible effects on the New Zealand export trade if Britain joined the European Common Market. The Minister lunched with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Far pastern Economic Affairs (Mr'Averv Peterson) and conferred with the Under-Secretary of State for Economic Affairs (Mr George Ball). He told a reporter that the United States officials were well aware of New Zealand’s situation.
